Superior Quality Leads to Increased Apple Movement (Dec. 13)
The 2004 apple crop continues to shine in terms of quantity and quality, both of which are having a noticeable impact on the market. While apple holdings are up over previous years, the industry is also seeing an increase in apple movement early in the season. The national movement of fresh-market apple supplies from storage during November 2004 increased 18 percent as compared to movement during the same period last year, according to the U.S. Apple Association’s (USApple) December survey of apple storage facilities.

Bowen, Davis Join USApple Team (Nov. 15)
The U.S. Apple Association (USApple) is pleased to announce the recent addition of two new staff members, Wendy Davis as director of communication and consumer health, and Mark Bowen, manager of industry information. "We are very pleased that Wendy and Mark have joined USApple," said Nancy Foster, USApple president and CEO. "They bring a great deal of knowledge and experience that will be an asset to the association and our mission to support the profitable production and marketing of apples and apple products in the United States."

Excellent Growing Conditions Boost Fresh Apple Supplies (Nov. 15)
The majority of the 2004 apple harvest is completed, and in most of the country Mother Nature cooperated to give growers an outstanding harvest, both in terms of great quality and consumer availability. Superb growing conditions increased fresh market production in many apple-growing regions, especially in Washington state, according to an industry survey by the U.S. Apple Association.

USApple Leads Push for Tree Disaster Assistance for Growers (October 13, 2004)
Before heading home to hit the campaign trail, Congress approved a $2.9 billion dollar farm disaster aid package with at least $20 million targeted to the federal tree assistance program (TAP). These TAP funds will be instrumental in helping apple growers recover from significant tree losses suffered over the past year. At the urging of the U.S. Apple Association (USApple) and several state apple associations, the TAP measure was included in an overall agricultural disaster relief package. President Bush is expected to sign the measure into law this week.

USApple Urges President Bush to Support Agriculture Labor Reform (July 20, 2004)
A stable, predictable and legal workforce is key to the future of the U.S. apple industry and legislation to help provide that workforce is currently stuck in Congress. Time to pass this legislation is quickly passing and the U.S. Apple Association (USApple) is urging President George W. Bush to step in and push the process along. USApple, Processor Group Partner To Spread Brain Health Research News (March 4, 2004)
Want to keep your brain on its toes? Then munch on some apples, or down some 100 percent apple juice or cider. That's according to new research from the University of Massachusetts Lowell that suggests that nutrients in apples and apple juice may improve memory and learning. And the U.S. Apple Association (USApple) and the Apple Products Research Education Council (APREC) are working to make sure that consumers read, see and hear the news.
